The winter of 2017/2018 will be remembered as a truly epic one. It started snowing in late October and just kept on going! Last November in Kaprun was simply superb with great snow throughout. We had the opportunity to not only ski the glacier in perfect conditions but to also use the Zell am Zee area as it opened in early December - there was just so much snow.
We are once again offering 5 training weeks in the autumn and early winter this year (dates below).
If you ski at this time of year and join a course you are obviously a keen skier with a desire to improve your level. That is exactly what we do!
We are often asked by people whether or not they are at the level to join Skivolution courses based on the perception that you have to be a fabulous skier! Whilst it is true that we do coach some very good skiers we run courses for everyone from blue/red run skiers onwards – so please don’t think you have to be an aspiring ski instructor or an expert skier to join us!
Our coaches and courses
Our coaches in Kaprun are all BASI ISDT fully certified and are: Pat Cahill, Tom Kenny, Amy Beattie, Joe Kenny, Robert Grant and Dave Beattie.

In the ski teaching world there are many teaching qualifications and differing approaches on how to improve a skiers level.
Our instructors have all come through the British Association of Snowsports Instructor system and have the top level ISTD. This means they can teach world-wide. However, having an elite qualification is only part of the equation and to be honest what you want from ski coaching is a personal preference.
Many instructors are employed to show people the best runs, best snow conditions and sometimes to gain priority in lift lines. Some tend to go for the ‘ski in line approach’ but the reality here is that there is very little benefit in this. Unless you are first or second you spend most of your time avoiding other skiers! If you are looking for an instructor to give you a few top tips and lead you around the hill then our courses wouldn’t be for you either.
However, if you are very motivated and want a proper plan on how to develop your skiing then look no further. Our instructors are experts in analysing ski performance and more importantly formulating a plan to improve you.
The courses are limited to a maximum of eight per group and we focus on working with skiers on an individual basis. Even with small groups people need specific drills and feedback to make changes and this is how we work. You are with your coach all day and with the use of the latest technology we are able to give you ‘on the hill’ feedback through iPads. Kaprun is one of the best locations to do this. You have a terrific variety of terrain and uplift making our jobs easy.

Have you ever thought about skiing in the late autumn/early winter where you can enjoy the first snows of the winter on an Austrian glacier and improve your skiing at the same time?
Fed up always skiing at the same level and not knowing how to get better? Or maybe you go on a ski holiday and get the odd private session hoping a few ‘top tips’ will make the difference!
If you are serious about getting better and moving onto a new level then here at Skivolution we work with all levels from the ‘perpetual intermediate’ to aspiring ski instructors and racers.
We have been doing this for over 20 years and with a 90% return or recommendation rate we must be doing something right! What really makes the difference in Kaprun is the quality of the coaching, the terrain and the opportunity to work specifically on your ski goals. Over the next few weeks we will tell you a little more about the coaches, the glacier, the village and a typical day ski day.
